The Google Camera v6.2 Ported to Android P with Most of the features

The Google camera is updated to version 6.2, and is rolled out with Android Q Beta 2. it adds several new options and Image processing. It is recently ported Android P devices with Camera2api working. Lets check out the new things.



First is First, Google Camera Port aka Gcam mod, a best way to use your camera hardware and process them with HDR+ and thus generates great image output by taking several bursts of RAW pictures. It result in giving noiseless and accurate Colour outputs especially in dark situations. It is called Night Sight by Google. This algorithm is called Fast Fourier Colour Contingency Algorithm.

Normal Google camera brings, HDR+, Portrait mode (with single Camera) for both Front and Rear, Night Sight, AR emojis, Slow Motion (Compatible with some high end chip sets), Photobooth, Photo Sphere, Panorama,  Google Lens Integration, Video Stabilization (EIS) and more.

If you want Google Camera v6.2 on your Smartphone, your handset need to meet some minimum requirements:
  • Camera2api
  • Android P 9.0
  • AR Core Compatibility(Optional for Playground AR and Play emojis)

Camera2api

The name suggests it is an application programming interface, especially to access all functionalities of camera sensor. It is introduced with Android Lollipop. It is available for most Qualcomn Snapdragon Processors from past three years and some recent Exynos, Kirin and Mediatek Processors.

If you got Level 3 as Hardware Support level then you are good to go. If not you have enable them in your Snapdragon based handset by entering into fastboot mode by unlocking bootloader in some cases.
Disclaimer: Unlocking bootloader will erase your data present in your mobile. Please refer how to enable camera2api in your smartphone.

Android Version

Previous Gcam mods can be used in Android 8.0 or 8.1 but Pixel 3 exclusive features work only in Android 9.0. Even you run the previour version Pixel 3 camera mod selfie mode and night sight features may not work. But now v6.2 only work with Android 9.0+ devices. please ensure you are on latest security patch.

Improved HDR+ and Night Sight

As part of post processing, hdr+ working and image output and noise reduction are well improved also in dark scenarios. Also there was added a Permanent night sight suggestion which will eventually disable google lens suggestions.


Quick Access

While Double Power button shortcut is always there, but long pressing pills introducing other camera features is nice thing to have.

Improved Google lens Suggestions

Google lens suggestions are perfectly working in my ported version. Also it also displays the existing application links to open webpage in your smartphone directly to app. I positioned the camera towards amazon and it suggestions the link to open amazon app in my mobile, like follows...



Dark mode, object detection and Screen Flash

Dark mode is here, it doesn't show up in View finder but available in Camera settings. Object detection is the coolest feature and working fine without any hiccups. Screen flash, well improved with flash symbol shows up entirely taking the selfie in low light situations.

AR Emojis

If you are device certified for Augmented reality by Google you have install AR Core by Google from play store. and Need to install the modded Playground app from this link. Then Playground button showed up in more lables. you can enjoy taking pictures with avengers playmojis with facial expression movement.

Miscellaneous Improvements

Google Measure is the feature integration Google is teasing in the Camera app, which let's you measure the size of the objects from camera itself.

Working Compatibility

I was testing the test apk of version 1.1 from last week in my Nokia 6.1 and is also giving some beat in Motorola One Power and Nokia 6.1 Plus as well using following recommended settings,


Issues

Slow motion only working with high end chipsets and, nagging and crashing is found on my device. Measure feature is not ported yet. Night sight Image noise still need to be improved.

I Tried Disabling Digital Wellbeing

Several reports about pixel phones crashing because of the Digital Wellbeing Application, i tried to disabling it too. I haven't seen a drastic change after all. The only difference between them and my Nokia 6.1 was only additional security chip. Pixels are powered by Titan M Encryption chip with usual main CPU and GPU's. But the meant to provide additional AI, Image processing and RAM Management. May be it is a software glitch without proper optimization. Reports saying the effects has already seen in Original Pixel 3 along with new Pixel 3a line up. Source

[Updated] Google Chrome 74 finally here with Dark Mode for Windows 10

Google Chrome 73 released a week  ago supposed to have dark mode for all platforms but given to only MacOs. Now Chrome 74 rolled out started with unfinished dark mode to market. Let's see how to get it.... Google rolled out the dark mode for limited number of users as they stated. But with some tweaks you can still get dark mode. First ensure that you are running Windows 10 v1809 aka October 2018 update and with dark as default app mode. Update the Google Chrome to latest version by navigating to 3 dot menu > Help > About Google Chrome. In case you already got the dark mode, you are lucky to go. If that doesn't give any result, keep scrolling. Search Google Chrome in the Windows Search and find the Application, Right Click on it and click on open file location.
