Chrome OS by Neverware v72 Installation and Overview
Chrome OS is one of the popular Operating System next to Mac OS and Windows 10. It getting nicer and nicer with timely updates. As all of us know a low end PC will struggle running Windows 10 or any other old versions of Windows. If you consider Chrome OS with one, you will surprise with the results.
Well, with My Lenovo 80XH Intel Core i3 - 6006U CPU clocked at 2 GHz running Windows 10, I've Disabled Cortana, removed most of Indexing utilities, disabled Startup activities and Increased Virtual RAM, But still a Lag City. So, I just wanna try this Chrome OS in my PC. Sadly Chromebooks are the only pc's equipped with Chrome OS. But, you can try Chrome OS with Same Chromium build by Neverware. It is Official Unofficial Chrome OS with all of existing features with some extra slices.
Now the Installation Guide, you need USB stick with minimum 8GB storage to create Installation media, i suggest 16GB to give a shot. Ensure you know your BIOS menu to boot from USB. It is different for different PC's.
Download latest version of Cloudready Home edition from this link.
You can directly download USB maker or image.(Size Image Size 1.01 GB, Extracted Bootable Image via USB maker is about 6.30GB)
Please ensure that you have backed up your USB or else you may loose any data present in the drive. If you choose Image then you need to unzip it and using this Chrome app, you can make your usb bootable by launching the app, the navigating to gear icon and clicking on local image and then selecting your usb. This process takes some time.
After this, boot your pc from usb that's it, now you can experience Chrome OS.
It is running v72. As it is not official Chrome OS you will get latest version updates with time. Like getting updates after Pixel or AndroidOne devices next to other Project Treble and othe OEM's.
Important
Do not try to install OS from quick toggles, which will erase your whole drive.
It is pretty fast, snappiest ever seen with these specs. LOL, my PC performing like Flagship machine. Main thing i really disliked about this, is updates. Chrome OS 74 released a few days back, but it still running v72 as stable not v73. Still all apps are web apps, no Multitasking and no Google Assistant Support as of now. May be with next upadtes we can see android integration and apps in this OS. I keep posting about the updates and stuff, do check this blog.
PS
You have to connect your Google account to this, make sure uncheck all boxes with sending diagnostic data and recommendations. I'm using this with my MicroSD, whenever i want i simply restart my device and boot it with usb by pressing F12 at the time of booting.
